Gretsch Drums Hits the Stage with Beatles Tribute Event

Bloomfield, CT, October 26, 2011 – Gretsch Drums exploded onto the scene at the Abbey Road on the River Festival in National Harbor, MD. This year marked the 10th anniversary of the world's largest Beatles-inspired music festival, and while Gretsch Guitars have long been a sponsor and favorite of the festival, Gretsch Drums made a dramatic debut with a Renown57 drum kit in Motor City Black (RN57-E825-MCO) on the main-stage and a Renown57 drum kit in Motor City Blue (RN57-E825-MCB) on the second stage. Almost every band of the over 50 featured at the festival performed with the featured Gretsch Drums.
Taking center stage, each Gretsch Renown57 drum kit garnered attention with its unique design that shatters conventional drum construction. Inspired by the great American car companies from the 1950’s, the Renown57 incorporates timeless, iconic car design elements and applies them to drums. The “hood ornament” is the Renown chevron, an aluminum triangular teardrop painted white with raised beveled chrome edges and embossed chrome Gretsch logo. The eye-catching drum sets enjoyed a major presence for the duration of the festival.
Over the past ten years the Abbey Road on the River Festival has blossomed from the inaugural 3-day event held in Cleveland, OH to the 5-day musical celebration of the “Fab Four” that draws several thousands of fans from 40 states and 10 countries. Featuring dozens of bands including devoted tribute bands and a variety of Beatles-inspired performances, this year’s festival also donated 40 percent of the revenue generated from tickets purchased through a special website and $5 from every ticket sold at the box office to the American Red Cross. “Gretsch Drums is delighted to lend a hand in commemorating an iconic force such as the Beatles during the Abbey Road on the River Festival, and help celebrate their profound effect on the Music industry” said John Palmer, Product Manager for Gretsch Drums.
